The San Antonio Independent School District community recently gathered to celebrate a major milestone at Tafolla Middle School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony showcasing the campus’s latest improvements through the district’s Bond 2020 program.

The celebration featured lively performances by Tafolla’s mariachi students inside the newly renovated gymnasium, giving attendees a firsthand look at one of the upgraded facilities. In addition to the gym, the campus also received renovations to its auditorium and fine arts building, enhancing spaces dedicated to student creativity and performance.

Originally opened in its current location in 1969, Tafolla Middle School continues to focus on cultivating a strong academic environment that supports students on their educational paths. The recent upgrades reflect that commitment, providing modernized facilities designed to enrich both academic and extracurricular experiences.

The campus also received a boost for its athletics programs, earning a $5,000 grant from Kellogg’s and H-E-B. The initiative aims to keep students active and engaged by supporting middle school sports programs.

District leaders noted that these improvements were made possible through Bond 2020, a comprehensive initiative focused on enhancing SAISD campuses. The program includes major renovations, upgraded security measures, improved technology, and HVAC system upgrades across the district.

The ribbon-cutting marks another step forward in SAISD’s ongoing efforts to provide high-quality learning environments for students and staff.
