San Antonio is preparing for tens of thousands of runners, spectators, and visitors as the 2025 SATX Marathon takes over downtown December 5–7. The annual race weekend brings major road closures, community celebrations, and a full lineup of events for athletes and families. Residents and travelers are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid delays and stay informed about traffic impacts.

What to Expect

Beginning Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m., downtown street closures will go into effect and continue throughout the weekend. On Sunday, December 7, closures will begin as early as 2 a.m. and remain in place until 5 p.m. to accommodate the full and half marathon routes.

Drivers can view neighborhood-specific maps at SanAntonioMarathon.com/StreetClosures and are encouraged to use Waze for real-time navigation. VIA riders should check VIAInfo.net for detours and updated routes.

Runners and spectators may park for free at the Alamodome starting at 5 a.m. on Sunday, with carpooling and rideshare strongly recommended. All “No Parking” zones along the course will be strictly enforced, and vehicles may be relocated.
