The Eastside Clubhouse is expected to remain open after the City of San Antonio committed $350,000 and private donors announced additional contributions, Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez said September 22.
The announcement followed news from the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio that the Eastside Clubhouse will remain open. The funding is expected to allow students to continue receiving services at the Eastside Boys & Girls Club.
“We are thrilled to share that, following the City’s commitment of $350,000 supplemented by recently announced contributions from private donors, the Eastside Boys & Girls Club is expected to remain open and students will continue to receive services,” McKee-Rodriguez said.
The councilmember said the city’s priority is securing partnerships needed to provide quality programming for Eastside families. McKee-Rodriguez also emphasized the importance of consistency, transparency, collaboration and communication from organizations serving children and families.
The councilmember’s office said it looks forward to joining the Boys & Girls Club in a community engagement effort. That effort will give residents an opportunity to share their priorities for the future of the facility.
“Our office is committed to ensuring that, no matter what happens, this center will continue to provide the services they count on for years to come,” McKee-Rodriguez said.
