San Antonio residents can donate new or gently used coats during the 2nd Annual Coats of Kindness Drive, running through November 20. Organizers hope to collect 700 coats for three local organizations.

The Office of District 9 Councilwoman Misty Spears has launched the 2nd Annual Coats of Kindness Drive, a San Antonio donation effort supporting people in need.

The drive runs through November 20. Residents can donate new or gently used coats, which will benefit Corazón Ministries, Family Violence Prevention Services and Soldiers’ Angels.

The drive collected 500 coats last year, and organizers are aiming to collect 700 coats this year. Councilwoman Spears is encouraging District 9 residents and people across San Antonio to participate during the collection period.

“There are people in our community who could use a helping hand, and this is a meaningful way to make a difference. Something sitting in your closet could mean a lot to someone else,” Spears said. “A warm coat can make a real difference for a child, a parent, or a survivor who need a little extra kindness this winter.”

Coats can be dropped off at these locations:

– District 9 Constituent Services Office, 16500 San Pedro Ave., Suite 235, 78232
– Walker Ranch Senior Center, 835 West Rhapsody, 78216
– Mesa Granda HOA, 2 Sable Canyon, 78258
– Kung Jung Mu Sul of Texas, 16664 San Pedro Ave., 78232

The District 9 Office is also encouraging residents to spread the word and donate a coat during the drive.
