The San Antonio City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget on September 17, following months of consultation, data analysis and deliberation.

District 6 Councilmember Ric Galvan said the approved budget represents an effort to support a safe, healthy and sustainable city. He said the outcome reflects the priorities of working-class families in District 6.

Galvan’s budget priorities included maintaining senior services, supporting health services for women and families, strengthening public safety, improving infrastructure and addressing worker wages.

“This budget shows that even with narrow resources, we continue to stand by the needs of our residents,” Galvan said. “I remain committed to securing critical investments made to support working families.”

The councilmember also thanked District 6 residents who contacted his office, completed a budget survey or participated in a town hall. He said their feedback emphasized using tax dollars for community safety, streets and sidewalks, parks and greenspaces, and quality social services.

Galvan said those priorities guided his decisions throughout the budget approval process. The Fiscal Year 2027 Budget was approved by the City Council during its September 17 meeting.
