San Antonio Humane Society has officially launched its 2026 Rescue Drive, calling on the community to help provide lifesaving care and shelter for homeless pets across the San Antonio area.
The campaign highlights the story of Adam, a three-year-old terrier mix who was rescued after being found tied to a fence by a Good Samaritan. After arriving at the San Antonio Humane Society, Adam was diagnosed with multiple medical conditions, including a skin infection, ear infection, and severe dental issues.
Thanks to donations and support from the community, the organization’s medical team at the Leeu Naylor Medical Building was able to provide the treatment Adam needed to recover. After completing his care, Adam was adopted into a loving home where he is now thriving.
Officials with the humane society say Adam’s story reflects the mission behind the Rescue Drive — ensuring every shelter pet receives medical attention, shelter, rehabilitation, and the opportunity to find a forever family.
“With the cost of care continuing to increase, our resources are being stretched more than ever,” organization leaders shared in the campaign announcement.
The San Antonio Humane Society says donations from the Rescue Drive directly support veterinary care, food, shelter, and adoption services for dogs and cats in need throughout the community.
President and CEO Nancy F. May and Chief Operating Officer Kim Hinze thanked supporters for helping rescue, nurture, and change the lives of homeless pets.
