The Bexar Branches Alliance is calling on community members to help grow a greener future by volunteering at an upcoming tree planting event along the Huebner Creek Greenway Trail in Leon Valley.
Volunteers are invited to participate on Saturday, December 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., as organizers work together to plant 100 new trees in the area. The event will take place at 5601 El Verde Road, Leon Valley, TX 78238, and is open to individuals, families, and groups looking to give back to the environment and their community.
The tree planting effort supports local environmental sustainability by improving air quality, enhancing wildlife habitat, and strengthening the natural beauty of the Huebner Creek Greenway Trail. Volunteers will help plant young trees that will provide shade, reduce erosion, and contribute to a healthier ecosystem for years to come.
This community-driven initiative is made possible through partnerships with the Arbor Day Foundation, International Paper, and the City of Leon Valley, whose support helps ensure the success of the project. No prior experience is required, and volunteers are encouraged to sign up in advance to receive event details and instructions.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work and are encouraged to bring water. Tools and guidance will be provided on-site, making the event accessible for first-time volunteers as well as experienced environmental advocates.
Community members interested in volunteering can sign up by scanning the QR code featured on the event flyer. Organizers encourage early registration to help with planning and coordination.
By volunteering just a few hours of time, participants can make a lasting impact—helping the environment, strengthening community connections, and leaving a greener legacy for Leon Valley.
