The Schertz Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has been honored with the 2025 Excellence in Economic Development Gold Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The recognition was presented in the Print Promotion category for communities with populations between 25,000 and 200,000, highlighting Schertz EDC’s outstanding efforts in economic development communications and workforce support.

The award celebrates the success of Schertz EDC’s Workforce Resource Manual project, which serves as a key tool for connecting local employers, job seekers, and educators to vital workforce resources. This initiative reflects the organization’s continued commitment to empowering businesses, supporting residents, and strengthening the regional economy.

IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle praised Schertz EDC’s work, noting that the award “shines a spotlight on Schertz’s commitment to its community and showcases the significant impact of economic development.”

Schertz EDC Executive Director Scott Wayman added, “We are proud to be recognized on a national stage for our efforts to support local businesses and workforce development. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, partners, and community to creating an environment where businesses thrive and residents enjoy a high quality of life.”

The EDC will be formally recognized at the IEDC 2025 Annual Conference in Detroit, Michigan, held from September 14–17.
