| Dear Neighbor, It has been a busy and exciting time in our city. From making historic strides in supporting our firefighters to setting the course for next year’s budget, I want to keep you updated on all of the significant progress we are making together. As your Councilwoman, I am committed to keeping you informed about the work being done to make our community safer, more connected, and stronger for our future. Let’s dive into some of the key issues we have been addressing. Advocating for our Firefighters: A Historic Contract City Council voted in favor of a new firefighter contract – the first time since 2009 that our firefighters have had the chance to vote on their terms with 97% of their fire union showing overwhelming support. This contract is a major victory – not only for retaining top talent in our City but also ensuring our first responders have the benefits and resources they need to keep our city safe. I have heard you loud and clear – our community deeply values our firefighters and wants them to be supported in every way and have a fair contract. And we did just that. Public safety remains my top priority – a commitment that runs deep in my family as my brother has proudly served as a firefighter for 20 years. Although the City Attorney’s Office advised me that recusal was not necessary, I chose to abstain from voting to uphold the highest ethical standards and avoid any perception of bias. I fully support this contract and the positive impact it will have on our firefighters and our City. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished together. Looking Ahead: Key Highlights from the 2025 Budget Diving into the 2025 budget, I am excited to share the key highlights of this budget, which ensures we are addressing both immediate needs and the long term growth of our city.
